I’m imagine Sophie and Crystal Castles playing in an abandoned British council estate. I really wanted to like this album based purely on the incredibly nasty cover artwork (live earthworms inside a woman’s mouth) but it didn’t click with me. Possibly required a few more listens to grow on me. Notable tracks
Interesting topic, but falls prey to the same voyeurism it implicitly criticises. Also, it did not need to be as long as what it was
An extremely long two hours of relentless and inescapable sadism. Well made, but unpleasant to watch
Very average, and at time unintentionally cheesy horror movie about a cursed knife made from human bone
It always feels like too much hard work to get into a Róisin Murphy album. Bad memories of her gig
Strangely boring? Might be better listened to on headphones but not super excited about giving it repeat listens
A shapeless book of platitudes. Beautiful cliches that I guess are important to remember
Did not finish. Inoffensive enough – just did not capture my interest
Every element of this play was excellently executed but in excess. If the production and story could have been simplified it would have been a lot more enjoyable. Instead this felt like being pelted with bricks for two hours
Scattered life collage of 60s teenagers. Bad casting of the central boy actor ruined this movie for me despite its vibrant visual style and pacing
I felt uncomfortable watching this movie. It was earnestly and sincerely made, but the objectification of men and diminishing of the sole minority male character felt problematic?
An arthouse endurance film. Intentionally and uncomfortably slow. Unexpected alien conclusion
Not funny enough, horrific enough or musically interesting enough. Added nothing to Foo Fighters brand
Burger aside, do people really think a can of soft drink and a cup of standard frozen chips is worth paying $6 for? Applying this same logic to the burger I then realised I’d been duped into paying $11 for what is essentially the same as a regular fast food outlet burger. Okay but certainly […]
Comme ci comme ca. I have to be a bit generous when reviewing this place. After all, Adelaide doesn’t exactly have a lot of French eateries. At the most rudimentry level, Le Carpe Diem is a nice place to have a coffee and pastry. The crepes however, are probably worth giving a miss. The nice […]
Basic. I think I just experienced the exact opposite of what someone who has never tasted spicy Asian food would have, after a life time of very plain simple food. Location Goodwood Road, Cumberland Park, Adelaide, SA
Underwhelming. I feel a bit mean giving a bad review to Plant 13 when it’s evident they care so much about their food and the overall presentation of the place. Interior is very trendy but I’m just here for the food and ultimately, found it unworthy of the price tag. Not bad, just not awesome. […]
It’s okay. Servings are huge but food is meh. Shredded carrot and sweet chilli sauce on everything. Surely there are better vegetarian options than this? Location Rundle Street, City Centre, Adelaide, SA
Breadtop is one of those institutions that make me feel out of touch with the general public. I simply dont understand why they are so popular. Doesn’t anyone remember that the first shop in Adelaide on Grote street closed down? Now that its relocated near to bus stops, it gets convenience eaters. It’s a franchise […]
Ribena drink was the highlight of my meal. I hate it when you have food and at the end, feel like you wasted your recommended daily intake of calories. Location Pulteney Street, City Centre, Adelaide, SA
While this place serves good food, unfortunately it will be held to the same standards as similar Viet restaurants in the area. By comparison, Quan Ngon is expensive and the servings are some what miserly. The fact that you have to pay for water certainly doesn’t help it’s cause amongst the local Viets Location Pooraka
Okay hand cut chips. Not to my personal liking though. Have eaten here twice and both times chips have tasted/smelt of old oil – the second time less so. I don’t want to be too negative though – still better than the average take out using frozen chips. It’s a very popular place with the […]
The BBQ and general food here used to warrant tolerating the indifferent table service and spartan decor but I’ve since had too many bad experiences to ever want to go here again. They may be able to occasionally do superb BBQ but its not worth risking it for what has lately been just really fatty […]
I think this place caters to white people more than to Asians. Otherwise can’t understand why this place is so popular. Dumpling are really stodgy and the rice dishes really oily. Much better Chinese places more worthy of your patronage. Location Grote Street, City Centre, Adelaide, SA
